What is the opportunity?

The Assistant Team Manager, FAM Malaysia, supports the team lead in overseeing day-to-day operations, focusing on team coordination, task management, and operational efficiency. This role contributes to fostering a motivated and collaborative work environment, assisting in employee development and supporting team performance. The Assistant Team Manager serves as a point of contact for operational matters within the team and collaborates with stakeholders to promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and process improvement.

What will you do?

Production and Supervision

  • Assist the Team Manager in overseeing daily operations of the FAM team to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
  • Coordinate and monitor team tasks, including shift scheduling, leave management, and capacity planning, to maintain adequate coverage and meet deadlines
  • Support and guide team members through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing to enhance skills, performance, and development.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), process workflows, and ensure accurate documentation for operational continuity.

Monitoring and Escalation

  • Serve as the first point of escalation for operational issues within the team, assisting in timely identification and resolution of data flow anomalies.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, Data Engineering, Risk, Business units, and other stakeholders to resolve technical and operational challenges.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining monitoring tools, alert systems, and exception handling workflows to support proactive issue detection.
  • Support regular reporting on team performance, operational metrics, incident trends, and KPIs to leadership for informed decision-making.

Risk Management

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions to reduce operational risks
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, risk management frameworks, and governance standards.
  • Assist in audit preparation and readiness by maintaining control documentation and supporting internal and external audit processes.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a senior analyst, team coordinator, or lead support role with exposure to supervisory responsibilities in relevant operational knowledge and experience.

Level of minimal experience

3-5 years

Experience

  • Experience in handling operational issues, trade validation, and exception management.
  • Familiarity with trade lifecycle processes, especially in a high-volume and time-sensitive environment, is preferred.
  • Basic Operational Experience: Basic experience on the business day-to-day process specifically involving accounting, portfolio reporting and database keeping
  • Hands-on experience in monitoring and validating transaction that flows in financial services or related industries.
  • Proven ability to investigate, resolve, and escalate trade anomalies and operational issues.
  • Exposure to trade lifecycle processes, exception management, and instruction quality controls.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as IT, Risk, Compliance, and Business units.
  • Proficiency with trade lifecycle and transaction validation across asset classes.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems and upstream/downstream data dependencies.
  • Good understanding of trade lifecycle, data acquisition flows, and exception management.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, incident handling, and escalation processes.
